Abstract

Interest in bio-inspired robotics has grown considerably in recent years, driven largely by the potential of these systems to achieve lightweight construction and high-energy efficiency. In line with this growing field, the present study employs numerical simulations to investigate dynamic deformation in a bio-inspired robotic structure. While the process of dynamic deformation can be described, using a range of constitutive mathematical models such as elastic, elastoplastic, and elastoviscoplastic frameworks this work specifically applies a linear elastic model to examine the deformation behavior. The computational results obtained from this simplified approach demonstrate a strong correlation with experimental data reported in the literature. This high degree of agreement not only validates the numerical model employed but also suggests that, under specific conditions, a linear elastic approximation may be sufficient to capture the essential dynamic characteristics of certain bio-inspired systems. The findings provide a foundational step toward understanding more complex deformation mechanisms.
